This is a hands-on workshop for kids who enjoy planning surprises for family and friends.  You will learn the science to many magic tricks. The element* of Surprise is key to a joke's success, so much of what you will learn must be kept Top Secret. Some experiments explode or are messy and you are sure to see many arched eyebrows - expect the unexpected! (c)

Most of the things we own are new, or just a few years old … except for that favourite rock of yours – that rock you chose because you liked the feel of it, because it shone or sparkled. That rock isn’t just a few years old. That rock can tell a story of things that happened millions of years ago. In fact every time you pick up a rock you are holding something in your hand which may even be billions of years old. This is our heritage – our Earth, our planet. In this session we will be learning about the earth & what it is made of. We’ll be looking at how Earth formed & why it is still a living planet.

More and more students - and increasingly younger students are being diagnosed with stress and anxiety related disorders. In the fast paced modern world it is essential that young people discover the skills needed to cope with stress and anxiety, and this is the workshop to do just that! 'Chill Out with the Gurus' will examine a variety of different ways that young people can proactively deal with stress and anxiety, including creative and musical endeavours. In doing so, this workshop will allow young people to develop their emotional intellgence or 'EQ.' In addition to this; we will also look at case studies of Ghandi and Nelson Mandela to see how they dealt with the stresses in their lives.

Come along on a scientific journey as we discover just how science is part of our everyday life. We will perform a range of fun-filled science experiments using safe, ordinary household items. Many of the experiments can be re-done at home to share with your family and friends

I SPY - JUNIOR DETECTIVE FOR GRADES 2-5

The life of a spy sounds mysterious and exciting, but as well as being adventurous, a spy needs to have many skills and tools of trade. This workshop will use games, activities and crafts to make and learn these tools and skills.  You will have plenty of opportunity to use your imagination, make observations and use your problem solving and creative skills

In this workshop you will explore the world of forensic science through investigation and analysis of crime scene evidence. Are you ready to find   out whodunnit?  Discover the clues, find out what they mean and work out what happened to the unsuspecting victim Sad Sam. Just like in the game of Cludeo you need to work out the what, the where, the who and the how.

During this fun hands-on workshop you will learn some skills needed to be a Forensic Scientist. You will get to make your very own casts of feet and hands, look at the fascinating process of chromatography, (splitting inks) to catch a fraud and learn to see the obvious differences in samples of hair, fingerprints and other things that scientists use to help solve crimes, and prove Who Dunnit!  You will have your very own forensic sample bag go take home.

Mix up a rainbow world of milky volcanoes and lumpy lava by learning how to manipulate molecules in this hands-on fun workshop. ©

3rd Rock from the Sun

From the ends of the universe to the centre of our Earth everything has a connection.

To understand our special planet we need to also understand more about the universe. In this workshop we will investigate and discover things about the universe, our solar system and our own planet. We will be doing a range of activities about space, the solar system and the formation and geology of the 3rd rock from the Sun - Planet Earth.
