Gifted students benefit by spending at least some of their time with like minded peers and being engaged in challenging, open ended tasks. These one day Enrichment Workshops for gifted primary aged students offer just such an opportunity. They are designed to bring together high ability, like minded children, to encourage intellectual and creative risk taking and provide opportunities for social interaction. Workshops can be designed around many themes. Current themes  include A Day at Hog warts, Around the World in 80 days, Narnia, Build a Village, Deltora Quest, Eyes of the Artist, Trees of Life, Cooking up a Storm, Blood & Guts, Pirates, Egyptology, The Borrowers, Medieval, Magical Worlds, Fairy Tales & Myths and Legends, Third Rock from the Sun. Social skills are the foundation stone of a child's development. With better developed social skills children can * have greater school success * increase their independence * interact with others more positively * establish and maintain quality friendships The Stepping Stones program is a specially designed course aimed to teach strategies to support gifted students in the development of * pro-social skills * emotional regulation * anger management * friendship building * conflict resolution * anti-bulying strategies * 'getting along' skills. Our aim is to develop an individualized social skills program that is tailored to meet the needs of each child. Teaching will take place in small group settings, providing students with multiple opportunities to practise there skills while interacting with their group peers. The program will provide structured activities that are enjoyable whilst allowing the students to develop new skills. Stepping Stones uses strategies that draw upon the most current research techniques and knowledge from educational and academic leaders from around the world. We combine this knowledge and our own teaching and counselling experience to create a balanced program that aims to provide students with meaningful and practical strategies that they can use independently across a range of settings.
